Baby Journey
Sunday, October 8, 2023: I took two pregnancy tests and they were both positive.
Monday, October 9, 2023: I had a blood draw to test for my HCG levels and the results came back & they were at 713.13. I am officially pregnant (5 weeks along in my pregnancy)
Friday, October 13, 2023: I had a follow up appointment with my Primary Care Provider (PCP) & they confirmed I was pregnant based on everything we had and we needed to see our OB before doing anything else.
Friday, October 20, 2023: We had our very first Ultrasound. They found 4 Uterine Fibroid Tumors (non-cancerous) but they couldn't see or hear the baby at all. They think that the UFT's are blocking their site of the baby. The best thing that we can do is make sure that the baby is still progressing by checking my HCG levels. They drew blood & the results were 12,000. (6 weeks along in my pregnancy)
Monday, October 23, 2023: We re-drew the HCG levels and they came back at 14,000. So we are still progressing and moving forward.
Wednesday, October 25, 2023: I was feeling like garbage all morning at work & I was thinking I had the beginning of the flu. I was cramping and hurting like crazy but, I wasn't exactly sure what was happening. I left work at 1pm, took some pain meds and took a nap and I even took a shower right before Joe got home. We ate dinner and enjoyed our night together.
Thursday, October 26, 2023: (7 weeks pregnant) I woke up at 1am with the most intense cramps i've ever felt and I wasn't sure what to do. I woke up Joe and told him what I was feeling, we agreed to take some meds and use a heating pad to see if that would help with what I was feeling. At around 5am, I was still feeling the same pain and felt like nothing was working. We called the OB after hours line, & spoke to Dr. Leavitt & explained our situation and what was happening. He explained that he thinks it might be an Ectopic Pregnancy (which means that the egg fertilized outside of the uterus, most likely in the fallopian tube and can rupture and cause internal bleeding.), and that we needed to go to the emergency room as soon as we can. Joe and I got dressed and even though it was snowing, we still made it to the E.R. @ Idaho Falls Community Hospital. At 6am I was checked in and in minutes they had me in a room and hooked up to so many machines to check my various vitals. They had given me some morphine to help with the pain and something else for the nausea and then had started me on an IV because I was very pale and starting to get dizzy and had a hard time keeping my eyes open. By 6:40am, they were moving me from my room I had been in to another room so that they could do another Ultrasound. The Ultrasound showed a new UFT that was big and then they wanted to do a urine sample. I had been holding my pee for awhile but couldn't find it in me to pee at all. Eventually they told me what I had given was good enough but I couldn't walk or really move at all without being in immense pain. Joe had picked me up and the nurse that had done the Ultrasound, had been carrying all the cords and everything connected to me. Joe and all the nurses had got me settled back into the bed in my room, and then Dr. Leavitt came in and let us know that based on the Ultrasound and everything they know about me indicates that I have 5 Fibroids and the new one that they found today is the biggest one and causing the biggest issue. The Dr wanted to go in and do a Exploratory Laparoscopy Surgery and go from there. By 7:15am, I was being given drugs to prepare me for surgery and talked to my mother in law on the phone and she asked me, "is there anything I can do?" and I remember responding, " please take of my Joseph. He hasn't eaten yet today and he's only been taking care of me." & then I remember passing out right after I kissed my Joseph "goodbye".
POST SURGERY:
- I woke up with a few nurses by me and checking my vitals and making sure I knew who I was and where I was. They had stuck a tube down my throat for the surgery so my throat was a little dry and sore after I woke up but as soon as I could get one word out, the phrase I attempted to say was, "where is my husband?". They couldn't understand me so I started pointing to my ring finger and they guessed I was asking for my husband. After I had enough fluids, they moved me from the recovery room to post-operation room, where my husband and my mother in law walked in only minutes after I did. My darling husband, who had been so strong and supported me through everything, was over joyed to see me alive and breathing. He explained to me what happened, that I had a Ectopic Pregnancy and it ruptured my right fallopian tube and so they had get rid of both as well as 1.2 liters of extra blood that was in my Uterus. Once I was able to sit up, and walk and make my way to the bathroom, they started letting me know that I would be discharged very soon and we needed to start getting all of our necessities together. By 2pm I was in the car and on our way home and then he helped me get settled at home. He let me know that my mom was on her way and that Katie was working on getting a flight to come out and stay with us for the weekend. Joe's sister's: Sara (chic-fil-a), Mary (goodies) and Nats (dinner, goodies & adorable get well cards) had all stopped by the house to drop things off. Then, my mother in law came by and cleaned our house and made a very yummy strawberry and orange salad. By night time, my mother and father in law as well as my mother were both here to see me and my hubby. Before i went to bed, my sweet sister, Katie had flown in and arrived in Idaho Falls. My heart was hurting but, it was also full to the brim.
I'm so grateful to have my amazing husband and so much family and friends here supporting me every step of the way.
I'm so beyond thankful for my husband. He has spent the last 24-48 hours at my beck and call when I need help getting around or going to the bathroom. He loves me so much and I'm grateful to spend every single day with him because I never want to be without him for as long as I'm alive. One more day of pain and there is a good chance I wouldn't be here anymore, this could've ruptured even more and killed me and my husband would've been without me.
My love is overflowing and i'm so grateful to have such a beautiful family to help me in our time of need. I'm glad my husband had so many people to help him, with everything he was facing without me.
All the love in the world,
Justine Elizabeth Mullings-Davidson <3
